Spiritual fatigue is when when we feel tired, exhausted, and discouraged in our Christian journey. In those moments, we experience a lack of strength, weariness and defeat. We’re sick of trying and spiritually drained. Every spiritual person faces spiritual fatigue at some point.
I remember the time I got baptized, Oh my! I was on fire for Jesus. Always ready to serve, doing my quiet times, always praying and always sharing my faith. But over time I got tired, I got to a point where I felt like my life became one big routine. I wanted to feel more and my wants grew stronger by the day.
I started searching for more love, pleasure and happiness. My needs and wants grew stronger by the day. I looked to God but I found no answers. Each time I read the scriptures and reflected on my life, I was reminded about how much God loves me but it just wasn’t enough. Seeking for happiness day in and out but nothing .
I got tired of seeking and controlling myself. It did nothing but bring me more pain and more sorrow. I moved from being tired to exhausted. But one day I remembered Gods promises for my life. I remembered my ealier walk with God. No one said my spiritual journey will be easy. I remembered how he has brought me this far and won’t forsake me now. I remembered that I cannot bear fruit on my own unless I remain in him.How can I feel love when I have forsaken the one who loved me first? i asked myself. The meaning of true love can only be found in his Love.
If at any point in life you feel spiritually fatigued just remember these two scriptures:
Psalm 127:1-2 “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
John 15:4 .Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches.
